Bt Sport Extra On Sky Go App
Sky TV customers with BT Broadband can make use of a neat menu hack that sees them essentially getting BT Sport 1 for free. It’s called BT Sport Lite.
When we say that BT Sport Lite is ‘essentially free’, you’ll still need to be a Sky TV subscriber; packages start at £20/month if you want a Sky+ box and £44/month for Sky Q packages.
Sky price rises June 2016: How are Sky+ and Sky Q customers affected?, BT Sport to stream Champions League finals live on YouTubeAs well as this, you’ll also need to cough up for BT Broadband.
BT Broadband starts at £5/month plus line rental. For this, you’ll get a basic ADSL service giving you speeds of up to 17Mbps and 12GB of data.
The cheapest BT Broadband package that comes with unlimited downloads will set you back £13/month plus line rental.
BT line rental is currently charged at either £17.99/month for the standard rate or £194.28 up front for 12 months’ worth of line rental.
Note that from July 3 onwards, BT’s putting up the cost of line rental to £18.99/month or £205.08/year.
So at the very least, you’re going to be looking at paying £42.99/month for Sky TV and BT Broadband and £43.99/month from July onwards. You probably want to know how to get a free pay TV channel right?
How to get BT Sport 1 for free
1) Choose your BT Broadband package
The option to get BT Sport Lite doesn’t immediately present itself when you sign up for BT Broadband, but it’s just a couple of clicks away. Once you’ve found the BT Broadband package you want, click ‘Select & Personalise’.
You’ll then be taken through to this page:
2) Scroll down and check ‘No thanks’
Scroll down to the middle of the page. You’ll notice that BT doesn’t explicitly tell you that by checking the box marked ‘No thanks’ and clicking ‘Continue’ you’ll be able to get BT Sport 1 for free. Convenient!
3) Check the right box
On the next page, you’ll see that there’s two boxes. One will give you access to live streams on BT’s desktop player and the mobile apps.
The second, the one you’re probably more interested in, means you’ll get BT Sport 1 in standard definition for no extra cost.
